I attended a small public school in Luck. Although I did well with reading, writing and art, I really struggled with math. My fourth grade teacher wrote on my report card: “Julie has been having more than normal problems with Arithmetic …" More than normal?! Argh!

In fifth grade I wrote an essay for a local contest. I won first place, plus my essay was printed in the newspaper. I was thrilled to be a published author!
